Encanto

Encanto is perched in the hills overlooking the crescent beach of Zancudo. The calm sandy beach at Zancudo has some of Costa Rica's safest and most luxuriant swimming. Opposite the beach, across a thin strip of land that is the town of Zancudo, is the freshwater Río Coto Colorado, teaming with wildlife.

Zancudo has a thriving expatriate community of North Americans and Europeans who are quick to point out their town's lazy beauty. Laid-back is taken to new heights in Zancudo. If you absolutely must get out of the hammock, there's a regular beach volleyball game, and the horseshoes are taken seriously. The sport fishing captains of Zancudo know where to find the best action in the Gulf. Dorado and marlin, pargo and roosterfish thrive in the area. Zancudo's mangrove marshes are a thriving nesting ground for herons, ibises and spoonbills. On a kayak trip up the Rho Coto Colorado, you might spot river otters basking in the sun, or spawning shorebirds.

For residents at Encanto, Zancudo offers a wonderful mix of people, wildlife and water. In addition to Zancudo, Encanto's owners have easy access to the treasures of the Osa Peninsula, Golfito and Pavones.
